Indian edtech sector continues to grow 

The Indian edtech sector continued to grow in the first nine months of this year, despite challenging economic conditions. A growth of 3% was reported compared to the same period in 2023. This demonstrates the continued strength and growth of the edtech sector. 



84% of students said they use artificial intelligence

A recent survey by the Digital Education Council found that 84% of students used artificial intelligence in their studies. And they are using it regularly: Twenty-four percent reported using AI daily; 54% daily or weekly; and 54% on at least a weekly basis.




Sub-Saharan Africa Strengthens Digital Education Networks

A major digital education initiative gathered educators and practitioners from Sub-Saharan Africa in Kampala, Uganda. The Mastercard Foundation-led project aims to increase digital inclusion in higher education across the region, helping universities build digital capacity and improve online education access. This initiative marks a significant effort in closing the digital divide in education, especially for underserved communities.

AI for Teaching Innovation at Edinburgh Futures Institute

The Edinburgh Futures Institute launched its “AI for Teaching Innovation” project, aiming to incorporate generative AI into creative teaching methodologies. By integrating AI tools into classrooms, the initiative seeks to enhance teaching strategies, encouraging a broader application of AI to improve student engagement and outcomes.

AI Legal Controversy in Massachusetts 

In Massachusetts, a legal case involving a high school student disciplined for using AI in a project has sparked debate. The student’s parents sued, claiming the school lacked clear AI policies. This case highlights a global challenge: balancing AI’s educational benefits with concerns about academic integrity. As AI becomes more prevalent, schools will need to establish clear guidelines.
